Sister and I debated whether or not to tell my nephews about Ukulele until the 10 day revocation period had passed. They are 7 and 9, and we wondered if they would understand the whole process.
Well, my sister gave it a shot on Thursday. She started the conversation by asking them if they knew what adoption meant. My 7-year-old nephew raised his hand (such the student!) and said what he thought. The 9-year-old added his information. They were correct in the sense of what they have been exposed to. They both have friends who were adopted.
So Sister explains to them that I am at the hospital. That caused a little shock... until she explained the difference of "in the hopsital" versus "at the hospital." Then she explained our situation with Juno (in terms they would understand). Both of them were extremely excited about Ukulele and could not wait to meet her.
And then.... (this is where my eyes start stinging with tears).... they announce that this year they want to ask Santa for something special:
They are asking Santa to let me keep my baby.
Children are amazing.

That is so beautiful! You've got me crying too.
How many signatures do you think we need on the petition to convince Santa unequivocally? I'll sign!
Wow. Tears. Kids ARE amazing.
Congratulations and best of luck to you.
Now I am crying but good tears.
As far as my blog design, I went back to my original. I was getting frustrated with the fact that none of my widgets were working on the old designs. I should be stuck with it for a while.
Oh, my. Thanks for sharing this awesome story!!!
Its been almost a year since we adopted our Little Lassie and I'm still touched by the gentle words my nieces and nephews use when talking about adoption. Thanks for sharing such a poignant story.
Congratulations on your daughter! How amazing are your nephews?! they are TOO sweet.
Enjoy your day!
