Flying Ukuleles

Ukulele and I just returned from our jaunt north in order to visit grandparents and friends. And I must say - the girl likes to fly! We had two flights to our destination, and then two flights returning. Not a peep out of our girl. She did not cry on take-off or landing.... no bottle needed to pop her ears - nothing! GatorMan is very pleased. He thinks this is a clear-cut indication that she will become a fighter pilot! :)

The trip home was very important. My grandmother is 94 - and I am afraid this is the only time she would get to meet Ukulele.... and also it may be the last time I see her. I certainly hope not, but her health is definitely not what is was just a year ago.

Ukulele also got to meet my mom, as well as my dad and step-mom.

The most popular comment on the plane and in the airport was "My, she's healthy!" And it is very much the truth! This girl can put away some milk! Another popular comment? "She looks just like you!" Well, thank you!

We did bring back some extra baggage in the form of a runny nose and congested chest. Ukulele's first "sickness." Not sure if it is from the altitude change, weather change (it was cold and rainy where we went), germs on the plane (which is better than snakes!), or a myriad of things.... Hopefully she'll feel better this weekend..... she starts daycare Monday!

Our little Ukulele is growing up way too fast....

Bling for Your Blog

Angry Infertile and Lost in Translation both nominated me for this award.... Thanks!

Lost in Translation nominated me for the following award as well:

And like her, I am combining the two!

The rules for acceptance are as follow:
1) Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design.
2) Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with "Honest Scrap." Well, there's no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon.
3) List at least 10 honest things about yourself.

Here are my ten things....
(1) One of my biggest pet-peeves is people who do not use blinkers. Inadequate blinker usage should be a jailable offense.
(2) I would give up my respectable day-job to be a soap-opera actress.
(3) My thumb does not curve backward like most of the population's.
(4) I am addicted to celebrity gossip magazines and websites.
(5) I already have my Oscar acceptance speech scripted in my head.
(6) I talk in my sleep.
(7) I would go back to high school, and college, in a heartbeat if everyone else who attended at the same time went with me.
(8) I met my husband on match dot com.
(9) I have legally changed my first and middle names.
(10) My favorite color is orange.

Ok, I'm cheating. I'm only nominating five blogs. The five blogs I nominate are:
1. More Than Dog Children
2. Waiting for Baby: Our Adoption Journey Chronicles
3. off my mind.but from my heart
4. Life and Love in the Petri Dish
5. The Unfair Struggle

Our *Nused* House

Things are going great in the nused house.... but I have a general question:

Do boxes multiply?

Every time I unpack one box, I honestly believe that it has reproduced into three more boxes when I turn my back. Who knew we had so much stuff? The only (somewhat) finished room is Ukulele's.

And our poor neighbors... I hope they did not watch us move in. We packed all of our clothes in garbage bags, so I am sure we looked like the Clampets hauling our goods into the house! Those garbage bags are STILL sitting on the bedroom floor - just waiting to be ripped open. Keep on waiting, Bags, keep on waiting.

As each room gets done, I'll post pictures. But don't hold your breath for long.... if the boxes keep multiplying, I may never finish!

Back to Civilization

We have finally moved into the new house. Comcast came today, and the internets are connected! I can now catch up on my blog reading and posting. I've missed everyone! I'll post more after this weekend. And for those of you who follow Ukulele's picture blog, there will be new pictures after this weekend as well.
