"Now that you have adopted, you'll have a baby of your own."
Listen, Jackass, Ukulele is our own.
That whole uneducated comment is not helped by the fact that in the building in which I work, two other women were diagnosed infertile, adopted, and immediately got pregnant thereafter. (I do know one of them had some fairly major cyst issues... not sure what the other one's story was. I also do not know if there was male factor involved or not with either one.)
Everytime someone says the above statement to me, I point out that Ukulele is a *real* child who is our *own*, and that less than 5% of infertiles who adopt become pregnant afterwards. That usually shuts them up.

If I were you I would totally keep a tally.
Or I might shut them up with, "There is actually a 5% chance that an infertile who adopts will get pregnant, but there is a 100% chance that they'll hear that piece of uneducated bullshit."
Ugh, that's so annoying! I'm sorry you have to endure those comments but I think you have a great answer for them though.
Peepel R Stoopid!!!
Stupid hollywood hype promotes this way too much - e.g. Sex and the City movie - therefore it must be true!
yeah I know .... the stupid comments are oh so fun - huh? i also like it when people ask about their "real moms"
Oh no! My favorite comment:) I always say something not so nice like, "Adoption isn't a fertility treatment." :) Your response is better!
Yeah, that's the response I get when I say that we're adopting. Everyone knows someone who did. It really did happen to my cousin; it really did happen to a friend of mine. Am I betting it will happen to me? Hell no.
Thanks for the snappy retort! I'll file that one away for future use.
